Dieter Ammann at the 2026 Weiwuying International Music Festival
The Swiss composer is composer-in-residence at this year’s Weiwuying International Music Festival in Taiwan

Three key works by Dieter Ammann will receive their Taiwanese premieres in April. The first of these takes place on 10 April 2026 with the Piano Concerto “Gran Toccata”, performed by Anton Gerzenberg with the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra conducted by David Robertson. In this work, the piano and orchestral sounds are closely interwoven, so that “the moment of virtuosity inherent in the genre as a ‘sociological model’ does not remain confined to the solo instrument, but is also strongly expressed in some of the orchestral passages”. As well as this, the Weiwuying Contemporary Music Ensemble under Jean-Philippe Wurtz performs two ensemble pieces: on 16 April 2026 “Le réseau des reprises” which experiments with developments in repeating structures, and on 18 April “pRESTO sOSTINATO”. – Further information on the Festival
