Milestone Reached in Halle
The 100th Volume of the Halle Handel Edition Has Been Published

The Hallische Händel-Ausgabe (HHA) has reached a major milestone: with the publication of the “Foundling Hospital Anthem” and the “Peace Anthem” (HHA, Series III, Volume 14, BA10733-01), edited by Stephan Blaut, the 100th volume of this Complete Edition, published by Bärenreiter, is now available. This marks an important stage for the international research project on its path toward completion.
The Complete Edition of the works of George Frideric Handel, based on all known sources, serves both scholarly research and performance. It has played a significant role in ensuring that Handel’s works—especially the operas and oratorios—are performed worldwide. The Editorial Board includes renowned Handel scholars from Germany, Great Britain, and the United States. The HHA has been published since 1955; following an extension of its funding period by the Union of the German Academies of Sciences and Humanities, completion of the project is now planned for 2031.
To mark this editorial milestone, a public celebratory event of approximately one hour, including a musical program, will take place on 23 February 2026—Handel’s 341st birthday—at 5:00 p.m. in the Chamber Music Hall of the Handel House in Halle (Saale). The event offers an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the importance of the Halle Handel Edition for both research and performance. – https://www.haendel.de/en/hallische-haendel-ausgabe
