On the death of Siegbert Rampe
With the death of Siegbert Rampe on 2 February 2025 at the age of 60, Early Music has lost one of its most colourful protagonists. Born in Pforzheim in 1964, Rampe worked as a harpsichordist, pianist, conductor, university lecturer and musicologist in his restless life. The focus was always on performing music; more than 80 CDs bear witness to this. Rampe was closely associated with Bärenreiter for many years as an author and editor. Alongside books such as “Mozarts Claviermusik” and “Bachs Orchestermusik”, he edited many editions of keyboard/organ music by Handel, Froberger, Lübeck, Muffat, Rameau, Sweelinck, Weckmann and others. These are still reference works today with which he reached performers, scholars and music lovers.
