Alkor-Edition, the music publisher and agency for stage and orchestral works, emerged from the company originally called Musikwissenschaftlicher Verlag. This company was founded in 1934 in Leipzig to continue the Bruckner Complete Critical Edition and then was renamed Bruckner-Verlag Leipzig in 1944. With the refounding of the publishing house as Bruckner-Verlag Wiesbaden, the head office first moved to Wiesbaden in 1948 where its Managing Director was Fritz Oeser. Karl V\u00f6tterle subsequently invited the company to move to Kassel to join the B\u00e4renreiter Group under the name of Alkor-Edition. Managing Directors are Barbara Scheuch-V\u00f6tterle, daughter of the founder of B\u00e4renreiter, Karl V\u00f6tterle, and her son Clemens Scheuch.<\/p>\n

As an agency for the distribution of stage and orchestral works as well as its own publications, Alkor-Edition distributes performance materials from B\u00e4renreiter and numerous foreign publishers. These include stage and orchestral works by Rameau, Lully, Telemann, Handel, Gluck, Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven, Schubert, Mendelssohn, Berlioz, Jan\u00e1cek and the editions of the Bruckner symphonies. Also available at Alkor-Edition are scholarly-critical editions of major operas such as Beethoven\u2019s \u201cFidelio\u201d, Rossini\u2019s \u201cIl barbiere di Siviglia\u201d, Bizet\u2019s \u201cCarmen\u201d, Hal\u00e9vy\u2019s \u201cLa Juive\u201d, \u201cDvor\u00e1k\u2019s Rusalka\u201d, Smetana\u2019s \u201cThe Bartered Bride\u201d, Gounod\u2019s \u201cFaust\u201d, Offenbach\u2019s \u201cLes contes d\u2019Hoffmann\u201d and \u201cLa Belle H\u00e9l\u00e8ne\u201d and ballets by Tchaikovsky. Contemporary music forms a central part of the Alkor repertoire, in particular works by B\u00e4renreiter composers.<\/p>\n
